Most candles are made quickly. Poured at scale, scented with whatever's cheapest, and packed off without much thought. Hand-poured candles are different by design. Slower, smaller batch, made one at a time with three quiet principles behind every choice. That, in essence, is what Oli & Home is.
We make our candles in a small Cambridge studio, and the principles have a name. O.L.I. — Origin. Light. Impact. Three letters, borrowed from a single Italian word, that quietly hold the whole brand together.
This is the story of what they mean.

The name that started it
The brand is named for oli, the Italian word for oils. A small word for the art of scent and the warmth it brings into a home.
It was always the heart of what we did. Somewhere along the way we noticed the same three letters spelled something else. Three gentle principles that already described how we wanted to work.
O for Origin. L for Light. I for Impact.
One small word holding two meanings. The art of scent, and the care behind it.
Origin: what goes in
Everything we make starts with what's in the jar.
Our waxes are 100% plant-based, renewable and clean-burning. Never paraffin. Our fragrance oils are paraben- and phthalate-free, always. Our wicks are premium Italian cotton, untreated. Our glass is recycled amber, made to be reused, or recycled when you're ready.
What we leave out matters as much as what we put in.
This part of the framework is about respect. For the people who light our candles, for the air in their homes, and for the planet that lent us the ingredients in the first place.
Light: how it lives in your home
A flame, a warmer, or a reed. Each one releases something into the room you spend your evenings in. So we make sure it's only what we want there.
Every candle is hand-poured in small batches from our Cambridge studio. Slowly. Quietly. One at a time. No shortcuts. No synthetic shine.
There is also a quieter point being made here. A candle isn't just a product. It's a small ritual repeated in your home, often at the moments that matter most. The end of a long day. The start of a slow Sunday. The few minutes you give yourself before bed.
The way we make our candles is shaped by the way we hope you'll use them. With care. Without rushing.
Impact: what it leaves behind
The scent fades. We'd like its story not to.
For every order, we plant a tree through Ecologi. A small, steady way to give back more than we take. Our outer packaging is fully recyclable, wrapped in glassine paper rather than plastic. The amber glass is designed to live on. Rinsed clean, the jars are lovely for fresh flowers, cotton buds, or whatever else finds its home with you.
These are small decisions. Quietly repeated. Every time.
This third principle, Impact, is also why a single candle is never just a candle to us. Each one carries a ripple.
A little about the maker
Behind all of this is one person.
Oli & Home was born from a simple wish: to help people slow down and find calm in their daily routines. The maker grew up surrounded by nature in the Amazon rainforest. Rain on leaves, fresh earth, flowers at dusk. She now lives and pours candles in Cambridge.
That early life still shapes the scents. The compositions lean towards the natural, the herbal, the gently floral. The kind of fragrance that belongs in a quiet room, not a perfume counter.
Each candle is thoughtfully composed and extensively tested before it gets a name. Some take a year of small tweaks before they're ready.
Why the three letters still matter
Plenty of brands talk about their values. Most of them say the same things. We chose O.L.I. because it forced us to make those values specific.
- Origin keeps us honest about what we buy
- Light keeps us honest about how we make
- Impact keeps us honest about what happens after
If we ever drift from one of them, the brand name itself will tell us.
It isn't loud. It isn't perfect. We're still writing it. But it's the thread that holds the Oli & Home candle collection together, from a quiet morning Caffè Latte to a winter evening Quiet Hours.
Light when you're ready
If you've found us recently, welcome. We hope a candle from this small Cambridge studio makes its way into one of the gentler moments of your week.
Light when you're ready.
