Candle Care
A little care goes a long way. These few steps will help your candle burn cleanly, evenly and for as long as possible.
For container candles
- Trim the wick to 5 mm before every burn.
- On the first burn, let the wax melt all the way to the edges — about 2 to 3 hours. This prevents tunnelling and sets your candle up for an even burn every time after.
- Burn for no more than 4 hours at a time, then let the candle cool completely before relighting.
- Stop burning once about 1 cm of wax is left in the jar.
- Always burn on a flat, heat-resistant surface, away from draughts, curtains and anything else that could catch.
- Keep well away from children and pets, and never leave a burning candle unattended.
For decorative candles
- Stand the candle on a heatproof tray to catch any drips.
- Keep the wick trimmed to 5 mm.
- Burn for short periods only — no longer than 2 hours at a time.
- Stop using the candle once it burns down near the base, or if it starts to lean or feel unstable.
- Never leave it unattended, or near anything flammable.
- Keep well away from children, pets and draughts.
